Nintendo finds gold and silver again in July Just like last month, the Nintendo DS took the top spot again with 608,000 units sold, followed by the Wii with 555,000 units sold, and the PlayStation 3 with 225,000 units sold. The PSP, Xbox 360, and PS2 did not make the sales podium, however, each selling 222,000 units, 205,000 units, and 155,000 units respectively. Top selling games for the month were as follows: NCAA Football (360), Wii Fit (Wii), Guitar Hero: On Tour (DS), Wii Play (Wii), NCAA Football 09 (PS3), Soul Calibur IV (360), Mario Kart (Wii), Rock Band (Wii), Soul Calibur IV (PS3), and Civilization Revolution (360). "Great hardware goes hand-in-hand with great software," said Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway, in a statement following the NPD figures. "Various types of games for Nintendo systems are represented in the top 10, demonstrating how we continue to break down the barriers between veteran and new players." Sony, for it's part, was quick to point out the PS3's continued momentum, having outsold the Xbox 360 for the second month in a row. "Our year-to-date sales growth of 99% for the PS3 reaffirms that consumers are indeed embracing PS3 as their entertainment hub-of-choice," said SCEA president Jack Tretton.
